Summit invitation

Dear activists and friends,

Saturday, February 11th, from 10am to 4pm is your chance to meet with people from around the county and region who are actively trying to improve some part of our quality of life in Washington County.  We’re all at work on different projects, but share many of the same goals and challenges.  So far we seem to be helping each other by sharing information and showing up when it counts -- but it’s time to take stock and plan ahead!

The theme of WC CAN’s 2nd Annual Citizen Action Summit is “Empowering Citizens in Washington County”.  Our host is Pacific University’s Tom McCall Center for Policy Innovation, Dr. Jim Moore, Director.

We’ll hear from some groups within our Network who have won and lost on issues before policy-makers or courts in 2011, and people forming new groups in response to recent events.  We’ll consider lessons learned, goals shared, and opportunities for coordinated action.

Our lunchtime keynote speaker is Ethan Seltzer, PhD., Professor of Urban Studies and Planning at Portland State University.  Recognized internationally for his expertise in smart urban design and development through collaborative planning with diverse stakeholders, he will help us to focus on our own collaborative challenges and prospects in Washington County.

In afternoon breakout groups we’ll work on strategies and priorities for 2012, then gather again to summarize and prioritize WC CAN projects, programs, and strategies for 2012.

Please join us February 11 at Taylor Auditorium, Marsh Hall, Pacific University in Forest Grove

Together we CAN make a difference in Washington County!

Sincerely,
Linda Peters
Chair, Washington County Citizen Action Network
